Reality Show for Writers II

Some time back, I blogged tongue-in-cheek about how cool it would be to have a reality show featuring desperate writers.¬†Well, it seems they already have something along those lines. Based on Canada’s mad novel writing contest, which makes Nano seem perfectly sane in comparison. The “3-Day Novel Contest” premiered live on Book Television in 2006.

12 writers will write 12 novels in just 72 hours as they battle crowds, cameras, fatigue, each other, and themselves in the competition to become Canada’s next literary superstar.”

The prizes include $5000, publication and all the exposure you can stand. I guess my idea wasn’t that flaky after all.

  1. Blimey. I’d probably watch it, but it sounds exhausting.Did you watch The Play’s the Thing on C4 a couple of years ago? That was more like it, but I’m not sure how it would translate to novel-writing. It’s a difficult genre to televise and still be sensible, I guess!
